Food and Civil Supplies

Project Brief

The Targeted Public distribution system (TPDS), an initiative by Government of India (GoI) is meant for making available essential commodities to the weaker sections of the society at administered prices. The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Government of Madhya Pradesh ensures supply at all corners of Madhya Pradesh. The function of the department is to implement the Public Distribution Scheme through proper monitoring and policy making.
The FCS has envisaged an effective system which will cater to the needs of the citizens. The solution would comprise of the following:

  1. Preparation of electronic database of beneficiaries in collaboration with UIDAI: This will help in preparing a state repository of the details of beneficiaries (like Name/Age/Gender/Family details etc). Apart from these details the database will also have bio metric impressions (finger prints and IRIS) and digital photograph of the beneficiaries. All these information will be done in collaboration with UIDAI. UIDAI will add value in the envisaged TPDS project by providing various kinds of processes, standards and checks which will help in making these processes reliable and smooth.
  2. Application Development and System Integration: It is proposed to develop application for implementation of PDS covering the following modules:
    • Identification and Registration of Beneficiaries
    • Allotment of Food Grains and other Commodities
    • Lifting of Foodgrains and other Commodities
    • Distribution to FPS
    • Transactions at FPS
    • Authorization of FPS
    • MIS Reports & Alerts
  3. Food coupon based distribution mechanism: The department envisages providing personalized coupons to each beneficiary according to their Entitlement. The beneficiaries would be disbursed commodities as per the number of coupons submitted by them to the FPS. FPS salesman will collect all the coupons and submit them to the vendor for generation of MIS Reports
